“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world”
Nelson Mandela
Greetings, I’m Jerry Garrett, and I’m delighted to share another post with you this week. Today, I’ll be discussing my journey into homeschooling and how it piqued my interest.
It was in the latter part of 2019 when my father introduced me to homeschooling. At first, I was skeptical, but as he began to explain its benefits, my curiosity grew. One of the main advantages was the freedom to study what truly interested me, as long as it was useful and enjoyable.
Take math, for example. Multiplication, subtraction, addition, and division are essential subjects. However, mastering fractions isn’t as crucial in everyday life or when entering the workforce. Homeschooling allowed me to focus on what mattered most to me.
Before homeschooling, I had a keen interest in computers and coding. Yet, juggling school left me with little time to pursue this passion. Now that I’m homeschooled, I’m able to learn coding from CS50 by Harvard – one of the best resources available.
Another aspect of homeschooling is the opportunity to learn practical skills that will serve us well in adulthood. Currently, I’m studying for an MBA, which will undoubtedly prove valuable when starting a company or pursuing a career in business.
As I learned more about the benefits of homeschooling, my interest grew stronger. Of course, I had questions – but those are stories for another time.
That’s all for this week. Until next time!
