All right, it’s me, Jerry Garrett, back with another blog post. Today, I’m going to be talking about Tesla. Right now, it’s one of the biggest electric car companies and is probably considered the biggest electric car company in the world.
But how did this all happen? It all started somewhere. For Tesla, it began in 2003 when Martin Eberhard and Marc Tarpenning founded the company. They were working on a car called the Roadster. Around the time they released it, they met Elon Musk at a conference in Stanford. Elon Musk was given a board member position at Tesla due to his experience co-founding PayPal and X.com (which later turned into Twitter). Because of that experience, he was made CEO and began heading Tesla.
In 2008, Tesla released its first car, called the Roadster. It was priced at a little over $100,000 and sold about 2,000 units. However, because it was priced so high, it didn’t sell as much as they had hoped, as it wasn’t affordable for most people.
Then came the Tesla Model S. It was priced slightly lower than the original Roadster and was considered a family car because it had four doors instead of the Roadster’s two-door design. The Model S was purchased by a lot more people, thanks to its sleek and minimalist design, which people loved. Another impressive aspect of Tesla cars was their performance. Most people think of electric cars as slow, but Teslas were actually very fast. The Model S could accelerate to 60 mph in just two or three seconds and could reach a top speed of 100 mph just as quickly.
After the success of the Model S, Tesla started producing more cars, like the Tesla Model X and others. Today, there are so many Tesla models, and it’s estimated that Tesla has sold a total of $990 billion worth of cars. That’s almost $100 billion, which is truly incredible. This is why Tesla is considered one of the most successful companies in the electric vehicle industry.
Fun Fact: Tesla owns the patent to superchargers. (The chargers that are used to charge electric cars.)
That’s it for this post. See you guys next time! Bye.
