“Now no joy but lacks salt, / That is not dashed with pain / And weariness and fault…”
Robert Frost – Poet
Greetings! I am delighted to share with you this week’s topic, which I learned during my MBA journey – Performance Requirements.
Think of our body as a computer system. Just as a powerful graphics card is essential for optimal frames per second in a game, our body requires certain conditions to perform at its best. If you have a critical project for a client and attempt to complete it by staying awake for five days straight, fueled by energy drinks, the quality of your work will inevitably suffer. You may finish the task, but it won’t meet the high-performance standards your client expects.
So, what are the key elements for achieving excellent performance? Let us explore them here.
First and foremost, sleep is crucial. Without sufficient rest, you risk dozing off at your keyboard while conversing with your client. Aim for seven to eight hours of sleep daily to feel refreshed and ready to tackle your responsibilities with renewed vigor.
Next up is nutrition. Consuming healthy meals instead of relying on junk food not only benefits your overall well-being but also enhances your work performance. Although on-the-go food options may be convenient, it’s best to prioritize wholesome meals that will support you in various aspects of life.
Another vital component of performance requirements is vitamins. Fruits are an excellent source, but one particular vitamin that many people lack is vitamin D. This essential nutrient comes from sunlight exposure. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdowns, most people have spent more time indoors than ever before, resulting in decreased vitamin D levels. Hence, make an effort to get some sunlight each day.
That concludes this week’s discussion on performance requirements.
